Selly is a cheerful young girl from Turkana County in Northern Kenya. She lives with her parents, three brothers and three sisters. They live in a palm-thatched roof hut that leaks during rainfall season and this poses a health risk to the family and the child who is very young making her vulnerable to respiratory diseases like pneumonia. The family lives in a communal land, as they do not have a land of their own. The mother is the main provider in the family. She weaves baskets for sale to support the family. The family also has a few goats, which occasionally produces milk and sold to supplement their livelihood. The family’s annual income is below US $360, which is not sufficient to meet all basic needs. As a result, her mother came to the office to seek for support. Selly is enrolled in a nearby school. She enjoys playing with her toys. Her mother would really love if Selly became a teacher when she grows up. Through your support, her life and that of the family will improve.
